A Seattle-based real estate technology company has transformed an iconic television home into an immersive vacation rental experience. Arrived Homes, a startup specializing in crowdfunded real estate investments, has converted the house featured in Netflix’s hit series “Stranger Things” into an Airbnb property that meticulously recreates the show’s 1983 setting.

Located near Atlanta’s airport, the property served as the exterior filming location for the Byers family home in the popular science fiction series. Arrived Homes acquired the property for $400,000 and invested an additional $500,000 in renovations, collaborating with professional set designers from the show to ensure authenticity.

The renovation project, spearheaded by Arrived COO Alejandro Chouza, includes detailed recreations of memorable sets from the series, including the Christmas lights and alphabet wall that became synonymous with the show’s first season. The property features carefully curated bedrooms matching those of characters Will and Jonathan Byers, alongside period-accurate kitchen and game room spaces.

Visitors can expect to find authentic 1980s artifacts throughout the house, including an extensive VHS collection and vintage TV Guide magazines. To preserve the experience, certain decorative elements have been permanently secured to prevent souvenir-hunting by guests. The house accommodates up to eight people, with rental rates set at approximately $350 per night during weekdays and $700 for weekend stays.

What sets this project apart is its investment structure. Through Arrived Homes’ platform, fans can purchase shares of the property for as little as $100, participating in the rental income it generates. This approach aligns with the company’s broader mission of
democratizing real estate investment opportunities traditionally reserved for wealthy individuals and institutional investors.

Since its founding in 2020, Arrived Homes has expanded its portfolio to include 437 properties across 65 markets, attracting over 678,000 registered investors who have collectively invested more than $200 million. The company, led by tech industry veterans including CEO Ryan Frazier and CTO Kenny Cason, has focused primarily on Midwest markets where investment economics are more favorable.

The Byers house has already demonstrated its appeal as a tourist attraction, with international visitors regularly stopping by for photos during the two years since Arrived’s acquisition. The property’s transformation into a rentable space coincides with the approach of the series’ fifth and final season, scheduled to stream in 2025.

While Arrived Homes has explored acquiring other famous screen properties, including the houses from “The Goonies” and “Home Alone,” the respective asking prices of $1.65 million and $5.25 million proved prohibitive for the startup’s investment model.

The company’s innovative approach to property investment has allowed it to be selective in its market choices, focusing on areas that promise strong rental income and appreciation potential. Despite being headquartered in Seattle, the company has deliberately avoided West Coast properties due to unfavorable unit economics.

The Byers house project represents a unique intersection of
entertainment, technology, and real estate investment, offering fans an opportunity to not only experience their favorite show’s setting firsthand but also to own a piece of television history through a modern investment platform.
