Evergreen Goodwill has received a substantial donation of office equipment from the former Seattle headquarters of online retailer Zulily, marking a new chapter for the physical assets of the once-prominent tech company. The donation came from Vanbarton Group, the commercial real estate firm that currently owns the building at 2601 Elliott Avenue.
The donated items include hundreds of office chairs, desks, kitchen appliances, and IT equipment. Vanbarton Group, which has plans to transform the building into 262 apartment units, coordinated the donation that will benefit multiple Goodwill facilities across the region.
For Evergreen Goodwill, this contribution represents significant value, with an estimated $100,000 in equipment costs saved. The organization plans to distribute the items across various locations, including their new Georgetown operations center set to open this fall, as well as their job training and education centers operating in five counties.
The donation not only provides practical benefits but also promotes sustainability by preventing these valuable resources from ending up in landfills. Items not used directly by Goodwill facilities will be sold in their retail stores, with proceeds supporting their free job training and education programs for individuals facing employment barriers.
This donation marks the latest development in Zulily’s evolving story. The company, which reached a $4 billion valuation after its 2013 IPO, has undergone several ownership changes in recent years. After being acquired by QVC parent Qurate for $2.4 billion in 2015, it was sold to Los Angeles investment firm Regent in May 2023. Most recently, in March 2025, Beyond announced plans to sell a majority stake in Zulily to Lyons Trading Company, which owns flash sales site Proozy.com.
The Elliott Avenue building, which occupies an entire block near Seattle’s waterfront, will soon begin its transformation from a tech company headquarters to residential space. The donation of office equipment to Goodwill ensures that physical remnants of Zulily’s presence in Seattle will continue to serve the community, even as the company itself has moved on to new ownership and the building enters its next phase.
For Goodwill, this significant donation will enhance their ability to serve the community through their various programs and facilities, while also generating additional revenue through their retail operations to support their mission of providing job training and education to those in need.
