Pacific Northwest Tech Industry Sees Surge in Leadership Changes and Strategic Hires

Several prominent technology companies in the Pacific Northwest announced significant leadership changes and new hires this week. Enterprise software company Smartsheet welcomed Eva Schoenleitner as their new vice president of partner. Schoenleitner brings extensive European experience, having previously served as CEO of Crate.io and held leadership positions at ABB and Microsoft. The appointment comes as Smartsheet prepares for its transition to private ownership following an $8.4 billion acquisition by Vista Equity Partners and Blackstone.

Real estate platform Zillow Group strengthened its executive team with the addition of Zuhairah Washington as senior vice president of market operations and Flex general manager. Washington, whose background includes executive roles at Otrium, Expedia Group, and Uber, will oversee Zillow’s Flex program supporting real estate agents.

Zenoti, which provides software solutions for wellness businesses, made two key appointments. Sean Blitchok, formerly of MeridianLink, joined as chief financial officer, while Doug Sechrist assumed the role of senior vice president of marketing after his tenure at CB Insights.

Meta expanded its Seattle presence with Stephen Konig joining as director of product management for Horizon OS. Konig, who previously led Mudita Studios and spent nearly 12 years at Google, will guide the development of applications for Meta’s virtual and augmented reality devices.

The Microsoft Alumni Network announced several board appointments, including Mike Novasio as board chair, and Tameka McNair and Dawn Trudeau as vice chairs. Sarah Pan and Amy Strande were named treasurer and secretary, respectively.

Supply chain technology startup Auger, based in Bellevue and led by former Amazon executive Dave Clark, recruited three engineers from Amazon: Sachi Patel, Debakar Shamanta, and J. Craig Lewis. This follows the company’s recent $100 million Series A funding round and the formation of its initial executive team.

In other moves, Adam Wiener, former president of real estate services at Redfin, took the helm as president at Lower, an Ohio-based home finance company. Seattle-based inventory tracking startup Augmodo strengthened its engineering team with three former Grabango employees: Kevin Rauwolf, Kyle Machulis, and Sean Hong.

The nonprofit sector saw James Miles join Path with Art as chief strategic officer, while Richard Giersch transitioned from his role as Life Science Washington Institute’s president to a consulting position.

In scientific leadership, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory recognized geochemist Kevin Rosso as a Battelle Fellow, the lab’s highest scientific honor. Biotech developments included Drew Duglan joining A-Alpha Bio as director of scientific communications, and Dr. Campbell Murray joining Umoja’s board of directors.

Additional appointments included Matt Medlin to Ada Developers Academy’s board, Paul Marciante as LeadSimple’s senior vice president of finance, and Kelly Goetsch as Pipe17’s first chief operations officer. Kymeta Corp. enhanced its advisory board with James Geurts and Elizabeth Kimber, bringing national security and intelligence expertise to the satellite communications company.

These leadership changes reflect the dynamic nature of the Pacific Northwest’s technology sector and its continued growth across various industries, from enterprise software and real estate technology to biotechnology and artificial intelligence.
