Pacific Northwest Tech Landscape Sees Major Leadership Shake-Ups and New Talent Acquisitions

Several prominent technology companies in the Pacific Northwest have announced significant personnel changes, with multiple executives taking on new leadership roles across the region.

Enterprise software company Smartsheet has welcomed Eva Schoenleitner as its new vice president of partner. Schoenleitner brings extensive European business experience, having previously served as CEO of Crate.io and held the position of group vice president of digital partnerships at ABB. Her background includes an 11-year tenure at Microsoft, where she concluded her time as a senior director in the Windows division. The appointment comes as Smartsheet prepares for privatization through an $8.4 billion agreement with Vista Equity Partners and Blackstone.

Zillow Group has strengthened its leadership team with the addition of Zuhairah Washington as senior vice president of market operations and Flex general manager. Washington’s appointment follows her previous roles as CEO at Otrium and leadership positions at both Expedia Group and Uber. In her new position, she will oversee Zillow’s Flex program, which provides support services for real estate agents working with homebuyers.

Zenoti, which provides software solutions for wellness businesses, has made two key executive appointments. Sean Blitchok has joined as chief financial officer, bringing experience from MeridianLink, Salesforce, and Hewlett-Packard. Additionally, Doug Sechrist has been named senior vice president of marketing, transitioning from his previous role as chief marketer at CB Insights.

Meta has recruited Stephen Konig as director of product management, where he will lead development of Horizon OS for the company’s virtual and augmented reality devices. Konig’s move follows his position as CEO of Seattle-based Mudita Studios and an extensive 12-year career at Google.

The Microsoft Alumni Network has announced several board appointments, including Mike Novasio as board chair, Tameka McNair and Dawn Trudeau as vice chairs, Sarah Pan as treasurer, and Amy Strande as secretary. The organization has also welcomed Kevin Espirito, Larry Hryb, and Trish Millines Dziko as new board members.

In startup news, Auger, the Bellevue-based supply chain technology company, has recruited three engineers from Amazon: Sachi Patel, Debakar Shamanta, and J. Craig Lewis. The startup, which recently secured $100 million in Series A funding, continues to attract talent from major tech companies.

Augmodo, a Seattle startup focused on retail inventory tracking technology, has expanded its engineering team with three new hires from Grabango: Kevin Rauwolf, Kyle Machulis, and Sean Hong. The additions follow Augmodo’s recent $5.3 million seed funding round.

Other notable movements include James Miles joining Path with Art as chief strategic officer, Richard Giersch transitioning to a consulting role at Life Science Washington Institute, and Kevin Rosso being named a Battelle Fellow at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. A-Alpha Bio has appointed Drew Duglan as director of scientific
communications, while Kymeta Corp. has added James Geurts and Elizabeth Kimber to its board of advisors.

Additional appointments include Matt Medlin joining Ada Developers Academy’s board, Dr. Campbell Murray joining Umoja’s board, Paul Marciante becoming director of finance at LeadSimple, and Kelly Goetsch taking the role of chief operations officer at Pipe17, which recently announced $15.5 million in new funding.
