A Reddit post has sparked a global online treasure hunt after users uncovered a hidden puzzle within Fiverr, the online freelance services marketplace. The discovery has garnered attention from Fiverr’s chief executive, Micha Kaufman, who has pledged a prize of one Bitcoin—currently valued at approximately $70,000—to the first person to solve it.
The activity began on Tuesday when a user on the subreddit r/eastereggs posted a message titled, “I think something happening on fiverr.” The post highlighted unusual behavior on Fiverr’s platform, particularly within a feature known as Fiverr Go, which allows users to interact with AI-powered assistants representing top-rated sellers.
Other users reported similar anomalies, including cryptic responses from these assistants and subtle irregularities on seller profiles. Theories about an intentionally hidden “easter egg”—a term for concealed messages or features—quickly spread across platforms including 4chan, Hacker News, and Discord.
Easter eggs have a longstanding presence in digital culture, often introduced by developers as a form of creative expression. They can range from humorous messages to complex puzzles and are typically discovered through persistent exploration.
In this instance, the easter egg appears to be embedded within Fiverr Go, an AI platform launched by Fiverr on February 18, 2025. Fiverr Go is designed to empower creators by allowing them to train AI models based on their own work, maintaining control over their creative process and rights. The platform includes tools such as the Personal AI Creation Model and the Personal AI Assistant, which can enhance communication with potential clients and handle routine tasks.
As interest grew, a Twitter user tagged Micha Kaufman, Fiverr’s co-founder and CEO, seeking clarification. Several hours later, Mr. Kaufman responded:
“Huh. A wicked idea by our team that went serious. F*ck it! Let’s make it interesting — the winner gets 1 BTC on me. Happy hunting guys.”
While casual in tone, the statement confirmed the existence of the hidden feature and introduced a significant incentive to the unfolding mystery. According to public blockchain data, one Bitcoin is currently valued at just under $70,000.

Fiverr has not issued a formal statement regarding the campaign. Company representatives declined to comment on whether the initiative was part of a broader marketing effort or an internal experiment that gained unexpected attention. However, individuals familiar with the matter, speaking on condition of anonymity, described it as a “playful project” by Fiverr’s product team.
Participants in the hunt report that progress depends on interacting with various seller profiles and issuing specific prompts to their AI assistants. Some clues appear to be triggered only after exact phrases are entered, while others have reportedly found patterns in profile artwork and embedded metadata.
As of Thursday, the contest remains unsolved, continuing to engage a growing number of participants worldwide.
