**Analyst Reiterates $9 Price Target as Company Unveils Novel 60-Day GLP-1 Delivery Technology**

Shares of PolyPid Ltd (NASDAQ: PYPD) outperformed the broader biotech sector on Tuesady, rising 3.2% while the XBI biotech index fell 2.7%, following the company’s announcement of its entry into the booming GLP-1 market with a novel drug delivery system.

The Israeli biotech company revealed on July 15 that it’s developing a a long-acting GLP-1 agent using its proprietary PLEX (Polymer-Lipid Encapsulation matriX) platform, with potential of lasting for up to 60 days. This technology aims to dramatically reduce injection frequency compared to current market leaders like Ozempic and Wegovy, which require weekly administration, while enabeling a linear release that could potentially minimize side affects.

Following the announcement, Roth Capital Partners analyst Boobalan Pachaiyappan reiterated his Buy rating and $9 price target on PolyPid. The price target represents significant upside from the current trading price of $3.50, as of tuesday’s close.

The GLP-1 market represents a substantial opportunity, with Novo Nordisk’s Semaglutide generating approximately $29.3 billion in 2024 alone. This market has been one of the fastest-growing segments in the pharmaceutical industry, driven by increasing rates of diabetes and obesity worldwide.

According to market research, the global GLP-1 receptor agonist market is projected to reach $100 billion by 2030\. This growth trajectory has sparked intense competition among pharmaceutical companies to develop formulations with improved administration methods, reduced side effects, and longer-lasting efficacy.

PolyPid’s entry into this space leverages its PLEX technology, which has already been clinically validated in the surgical site infection (SSI) space. The company’s lead product, D-PLEX100, recently demonstrated positive results in Phase 3 clinical trials for preventing surgical site infections.

The company’s approach to the GLP-1 market focuses on addressing delivery mechanism, which can be a barrier to patient compliance. By potentially reducing injection frequency from weekly to approximately once every two months, PolyPid aims to improve the patient experience and treatment adherence.

Other analysts have also been positive on PolyPid’s prospects. H.C. Wainwright and Rodman & Renshaw have previously issued Buy ratings on the stock, with price targets ranging from $13 to $14 per share, prior to the GLP-1 announcement.
