Starfish Space, headquartered in Tukwila, Washington, has secured a substantial portion of its latest funding round, totaling nearly $21 million. The investment round attracted unidentified sources, and Starfish declined to divulge specific details when contacted.

Established in 2019 by former Blue Origin executives Trevor Bennett and Austin Link, Starfish has previously raised $7 million in 2021 and $14 million in 2023\. Since the latter investment, the company has achieved significant milestones.

Starfish’s prototype satellite servicing spacecraft, Otter Pup, has undergone rigorous testing in low Earth orbit. The company has also secured a $37.5 million contract with the U.S. Space Force for a groundbreaking mission involving Otter’s docking and maneuvering of national security assets in geostationary orbit.

Furthermore, Starfish has entered into an agreement with Intelsat for on-orbit life extension services for a geostationary satellite commencing in 2026\. Most recently, NASA awarded Starfish and Otter a $15 million mission to inspect and visit defunct U.S.-owned satellites in orbit from 2027 onwards.
