Join the Celebration: GeekWire Gala Unites Seattle’s Tech Community with Festive Fun and Networking

The annual GeekWire Gala, Seattle’s premier tech community holiday celebration, is set to welcome more than 600 attendees tonight at the Showbox SoDo. The festive gathering, which combines networking opportunities with holiday entertainment, still has limited tickets available for last-minute participants.

The event kicks off at 6 p.m. at the venue located near T-Mobile Park at 1700 1st Ave S. Attendees can expect an evening filled with diverse activities, including live music featuring Furmata A Cappella at 7 p.m., followed by the announcement of the Fierce & Festive Outfit contest winners. The popular Geekaroke sessions will begin at 8 p.m. in the Lollipop Lounge, with festivities continuing until 10 p.m.

For those concerned about logistics, several parking facilities are available within walking distance of the venue. While physical tickets aren’t required for entry, attendees must present identification at registration to receive their name badges. The event maintains a 21-and-over age restriction, with valid ID required for admission.

The celebration features an open floor plan designed for easy mingling, with no assigned seating arrangements. Cameron Catering will provide an array of appetizers and snacks, including specialized stations for mashed potatoes, Thai noodles, and sliders. Entertainment options abound with a DJ, photo booth, caricature artists, custom printed macarons, a candy bar, and oversized LED games, along with various giveaway opportunities.

In partnership with Greater Seattle Partners, the Gala will recognize this year’s “Uncommon Thinkers,” celebrating innovative individuals making significant impacts across various sectors. The 2024 honorees include protein design researcher Ingrid Swanson Pultz, fusion energy expert Uri Shumlak, Stoke Space CEO Andy Lapsa, TerraPower Isotopes’ Chris Dunckley, and AI researcher Hannaneh Hajishirzi.

Regarding attire, the event embraces Seattle’s diverse fashion sense, welcoming everything from formal cocktail wear to casual tech-industry staples. Attendees are encouraged to showcase their most creative festive fashion choices, continuing a tradition documented in photos from previous years’ celebrations.

The event has garnered substantial support from the business community, with First Tech Federal Credit Union serving as the presenting sponsor. Additional backing comes from gold sponsors Greater Seattle Partners and Network of Giving, silver sponsor Delta Air Lines, and supporting sponsors including Showbox Presents, Washington State Department of Commerce, and ALLtech.

For those interested in joining the celebration, registration remains open through the event website. The Gala represents a unique opportunity for members of Seattle’s tech community to connect in a festive environment, combining professional networking with holiday entertainment.
